Through the forum “From Survival to Prosperity” on “Survive the Crisis”, 200 leaders of the largest businesses in Vietnam had together shared and discussed critical matters along with practical experiences for healthy operations after the pandemic.
The event had gathered leaders from Vietnam Top 500 private firms, including như, PNJ, AA Corporation, Minh Phu Corporation, Thien Long Group, FPT, Deloitte… and was hosted both offline in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and online via Webex.
The forum reported that 74% of businesses are facing closure, while 90% are unable to balance their incomes and expenses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As leader of one among Vietnam’s largest companies and with working experience with many of the world ‘giants’, Mr. Truong Gia Binh believes that businesses need the following 5 key elements: Innovation and organization transformation, Revenue improvement, Workforce protection, Maintenance of Capital, and Reduction of Interruptions in the Supply Chain. Businesses need to face their own challenges and be well-prepared for any opportunities, in order to derive chances from difficulties. And digital transformation and technological applications may be an effective answer to all the above problems.
The leader of FPT also said: During this period, businesses are not only fighting for their own survival, but also for protection of Vietnam’s economic pillars. With our position and experience in various fields and technology services in and outside the country, FPT Corporation hopes to an ally of Vietnamese businesses in innovation and the world’s state-of-the-art technologies.
In sharing the pain with stakeholders of each business, Mr. Truong Gia Binh affirmed: “This hard time requires us to stick together, as there are no longer win-win relationships, only allies that help one another through hardships.”
The leaders also actively discuss their businesses’ real stories under the heavying impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, the economic influence of the coronavirus are forcing businesses to transform to mitigate their decreasing revenues, ensure the livelihoods of their staff, and smartly manage production based on the market demand and predictions. Digital transformation and improvement of work procedures in firms should also be quickened during this recovery phase.
At the event, Ms. Ha Thu Thanh – President of Deloitte Vietnam, had advised that for businesses to survive and breakthrough after the pandemic, they need a keen leader. She believed that at the moment, businesses need to quickly perform reconstructing solutions, determine their strategies, and consider mid-term and short-term priorities.
Mr. Hoang Viet Anh – Vice-President of FPT, had brought vital technological solutions that are being applied in various fields and companies in finance, insurance, banking, and so on, both domestically and internationally.
Among those is the akaBot – the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solution, which helps banks save 80% of waiting time, and process over 1.5 million receipts per year. There is also FPT.AI – the Virtual Call Agent solution that can replace humans in customer care by performing 20,000 calls per day, ranging from 1-2 minutes per call, at a 98% success rate. The FPT eHospital solution had also helped Vinh General Hospital to improve service capacity by 3 times and optimize operations from diagnosis, treatment, check-up, health record review, etc. to payments. Thanks to this system, from a 300-500 daily capacity, the hospital can now receive 1,600 to 1,800 patients in just 2 hours.
Speaking from FPT’s own situation, Mr. Hoang Viet Anh – Vice President of FPT, shared that the firm is always improving itself, reviewing its internal issues, and solving operational problems for optimization of work efficiency of each staff. For example, the firm’s Optimized Assignment solution applied at FPT Telecom had helped this telecommunication company save billions of VND and improve work efficiency by around 28%, at the same time allowed customers to track the work process of technical staffs via a mobile app. The procedure digitalization and automatic work assignment solution FPT Spro had also reduced 90% of the average time for processing complicated claims, 70% of leaders’ average approval time, and improve back-office staffs’ efficiency by 150%. Via these figures of FPT, Mr. Hoang Viet Anh hopes to inspire other businesses in their digital transformation journeys.
At the second part of the event, many large firms’ CEOs also joined the seminar “Vietnamese businesses to survive the crisis” at both Hanoi and Ho chi Minh City. Here, Ms. Cao Ngoc Dung – Chairwoman of PNJ HCM, referred to Mr. Binh’s talk of “alliance ship” as fuel, before adding that businesses need to first build a throughout fighting spirit and encourage their staff to head up and fight, never letting down their guards.
Meanwhile, the “Minh Phu shrimp king”- Mr. Le Van Quang, discussed price reduction as a tactic for encouraging consumption and raising wages as a tactic for maximizing production capacity and motivating his employees. “To survive, we need to increase the shrimping-growing success rate by 90% to ensure profits for the farmers. And the only way to this is via digital transformation and AI applications,” said Mr. Quang.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, President of AA Corporation, expressed: “We immediately formed a risk prevention division during the pandemic, and tried to maintain our reliability in our customers’ eyes via sending them mails and images. There is also the introduction of Meetbox, which provides new services and constant product and method innovations.” He also shared that the company’s partnership with FPT for comprehensive digital transformation in the wood industry, had helped AA to overcome the crisis with minimal risks and damages.
The first result brought by digital transformation is the Hope platform – an online fair platform that integrates 3D factory scans, showrooms, exhibition areas, and product models with lively visuals. “This is the best time for transformation and using technologies to improve efficiency and partnership, as well as construct new models,” said the Mr. Khanh.
Alongside pinpointing utmost priorities in presence of leaders of leading firms in various fields, the forum “From Survival to Prosperity” also brings opportunities for meeting, connecting, and forming alliance ships between fields to together overcome and breakthrough post-pandemic.
