In the Internet Olympiad of Math and Physics (ViOlympic) in the school year of 2018 – 2019, the latest technologies such as graph-based knowledge modeling, big data analysis for learning personalization and testing have been applied for the first time.

After more than 10 years of implementation, ViOlympic has become a familiar and prestigious playground for millions of students in 63 provinces across the country. According to the experts, the contest has become a cradle to foster the passion for Mathematics and at the same time helps students become familiar with the use of the Internet and computers in studying.

Statistics from ViOlympic’s system show that ViOlympic’s final round this year was attended by more than 10,000 students from 48 provinces and cities nationwide. These are the contestants selected from millions of students across the country who participated in the rounds from free participators to multi-level competitions.

In the 11th year, representatives of the Organizing Committee said, with the advantage of FPT’s technology enterprises, in ViOlympic in the 2018 – 2019 school year, there will be changes in the direction of streamlining in form and quality of content, helping students to learn more effectively. “In particular, this year, further advances have been made to the system to prevent frauds, ensuring fairness and creating more favorable conditions for contestants” – Mr. Vu Hoang – ViOlympic project team member said.

Accordingly, in this academic year, in addition to breakthrough improvements in content and exam format, with the investment in technology improvement of FPT, ViOlympic competition has achieved significant progress, bringing new and exciting learning methods for students.

Specifically, the latest technologies such as graph-based knowledge modeling, big data analysis are included in ViOlympic to help personalize learning and testing for each student, customizing each student a suitable course, supporting them to overcome weaknesses and promote their best strengths.

“All knowledge in textbooks will be divided into knowledge points and these points will connect with each other in the form of skill trees. When students take the test, the system will rely on the results of exercises performed in each skill tree to assess the student’s strengths or weaknesses, making suggestions for improvement. This is also a tool for parents, teachers to monitor and support them,” said ViOlympic organizer representative in the school year 2018 – 2019.

The results of the national examination round, the final round of ViOlympic competition for Math and Physics – 2018 – 2019 school year have just been announced by the Organizing Committee on April 9, just 2 days after the national competition.

According to preliminary results, with the content of Grade 4 English Math exam, in total of nearly 2,000 contestants, the student with the highest score is: Doan Bao Ngoc (Nam Dinh) with 360 points

In the 8th grade English Math contest, among 532 candidates participated, contestant Tran Xuan Bach (Hanoi) reached the highest score with 410 points.

Vietnamese Math in Grade 5 is the content with the highest number of candidates taking part in – 5,218 candidates. And according to the expected results, along with ViOlympic Physics of Grade 9, this is also a content that the contestants score quite high. Specifically, the leading contestant is Kieu Minh Duc (Hanoi) with 570 points.

In the content of Vietnamese Math in Grade 9, the total number of candidates registered is 1,355 candidates. The leading position, according to preliminary results of the Organizing Committee is: Le Minh Triet (Son La) who reached 310 points.

At the Vietnamese Mathematics for 12th grade, the student with the highest scores in this round are is: Tran Thi Thu Huyen (Phu Tho) with 400 points.

For Physics content for Grade 9, with a total of 1072 candidates, 3 leading positions belong to Phu Tho students: Ha Hong Duong gaining 590 points, Nguyen Duc Huy gaining 580 points and Nguyen Tung Chi reached 530 points. The next two positions are Le Xuan Hau (Hung Yen) with 520 points; Pham Anh Tung (Ha Nam) who achieved 500 points.

Meanwhile, for Physics of grade 12, the highest-scoring candidate is: Tran Thi Hien (Ninh Binh), 460 points.

Educational institutions and candidates can look up preliminary results of the ViOlympic national examination in the 2018 – 2019 school year here. The organizing committee stated that this result will be updated again after the Organizing Committee reviews the records of time sent from the test units.

In terms of prizes, students are ranked based on their total score and time. Students who win prizes at the national round will be awarded certificates by the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences and FPT Corporation with the medal. This year’s award includes 140 prizes for the top 20 students of 7 exam blocks with a total value of more than VND 400 million, double the previous school year.
