In March 2016, Lee Sedol, the Go player who has won the world championship for 18 times, was defeated by AlphaGo, a computer Go software developed by Google DeepMind. The whole world was stunned when the machine-generated intelligence had triumphed over human being for the first time, demonstrating the machine’s self-learning ability, which forms intuition in artificial intelligence, a function that only the human brain can perform. The future in which workers are replaced by machines is no longer just an imagination.

Artificial intelligence in daily life

Amazon Echo connects to indoor devices such as cell phones, home appliances, and even bulbs.

In real life, artificial intelligence has made incredible achievements and is widely applied in daily life. The pioneer of revolution of applying artificial intelligence into households is Amazon with Echo Speaker. Amazon has developed a virtual assistant called Alexa, which is a cloud service, uses voice recognition technology, is capable of listening, understanding, and answering questions and executing commands. Amazon Echo connects to indoor devices such as cell phones, home appliances, and even bulbs. After Amazon, Google is also developing this technology.

Autonomous car, a product of artificial intelligence is appearing more and more in daily life. Not only automakers but also technology companies are constantly developing driverless automobiles for themselves. Tesla, Google, and even Uber have experimented with self-driving cars on the street. Most recently, FPT, a technology group in Vietnam, has announced that they will launch their autonomous car in October (FPT have autonomous vehicles in October).

Watson, IBM’s artificial intelligence software, was used by filmmakers to produce the trailer for horror movie – Morgan of 20th Century Fox. Watson has helped filmmakers save about 24 hours compared to the traditional production of a trailer. Previously, IBM Watson helped detect rare forms of leukemia in the patient’s body, wrote cookbooks and helped drive a bus.

IBM Wastson is being researched and developer by scientists.

Artificial Intelligence changes the way you work

The Tokyo Stock Exchange uses artificial intelligence to support market surveillance.

In working, for example in Japan, one of the leading countries in applying new technology, they decided to use artificial intelligence to monitor the market this year. Tokyo Stock Exchange currently has 15 employees specializing in market surveillance. However, the increasing number of securities transactions makes this monitoring even more difficult. The number of transactions has increased to 95 million transactions a day, 10 times more than five years ago. Using artificial intelligence to support for market surveillance will help speed up workflow 20 times faster than present. Tokyo Stock Exchange will become the first stock exchange in the world to use artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence is also applied in insurance and banking in Japan.

Tokyo Bank launches a smartphone application called MAI, a virtual assistant who is available to answer customers’ questions. Also at Mizuho Bank, 100 Peper robots with artificial intelligence are used to take care of customers. In the future, telephone answering will be functioned by artificial intelligence when Sumitomo Mitsui Banking began using artificial intelligence in this field. Sompo insurance company has started using artificial intelligence at customer support center in the field of automobile insurance. Normally each call will take 15 to 20 minutes to solve, but with artificial intelligence, it only takes 2 to 3 minutes. In the future, the entire customer care center of this company will be operated by artificial intelligence. Fukoku Mutual insurance company announced their replacement of more than 30 staff with artificial intelligence, they estimate that labor productivity would increase by 30% and help reduce the company’s annual cost by 140 million yen. With many typical advantages such as: The ability to find new knowledge from large data beyond the processing ability of human, contributing to reduce labor cost, not only Japan, artificial intelligence will soon become a core technology which is used and developed by many other countries.

Artificial Intelligence changes the game of technology

Artificial intelligence is slowly getting into our daily lives, not only available in science fiction. From Siri assistant on iPhone, facial recognition in Google Photos, to self-translation feature on Facebook,… all of them are artificial intelligence. According to the chairman of Facebook, Jarvis is not a robot but a software that Mark Zuckerberg integrates into his phone or computer. Just send a message, Jarvis will open the door for guests, adjust the lighting system or even play with Zuckerberg’s daughter.

Jarvis của Mark zuckerberg.

In the digitalization age, the most important thing is to automate the decision-making process, which is only fulfilled by artificial intelligence. In addition, supportive elements such as storage capability and computational experiences are all ready. This is also an opportunity for businesses to capture and use new technology to make a difference to become a leader. Any business that does not change is difficult to survive in a highly competitive global marketplace. The technology race in general and in the field of artificial intelligence in particular is inevitable to technology giants in the world, especially when they own huge amounts of data, which is precious resource for the development of artificial intelligence. These companies use artificial intelligence in applications and products to “understand” their customers, thereby providing a better customer experience, attracting more customers, supporting efficient and effective operation to increase profits for businesses.
