In the afternoon of February 6, 2018, the ViOlympic Center of FPT Corporation organized a ceremony to announce the mathematics and physics competition on the Internet known as ViOlympic 2017-2018 in Hanoi, with the participation of representatives of Ministry of Education and Training, Institute Vietnam Education Department, leaders of FPT Corporation… FPT CEO Mr. Bui Quang Ngoc emphasized that investing in Violympic is an important step for FPT to build an education ecosystem.
In the framework of strategic cooperation with FPT, Vietnam Academy of Science and Education will appraise and continuously update the ViOlympic examination bank to ensure the program standards issued by MoET, while paying more attention to practical application and development of student capacity.
In terms of content, according to the organizers, this year’s ViOlympic changes in rules such as reducing the number of rounds and there will be no competition in any levels but there will only be rounds of self-training and a nationwide Finale with the prize of more than 200 million VND. Along with that, the ViOlympic competition in the school year 2017-2018 also has many content innovations with the addition of applied problems, and problems that develop thinking on the test.
Specifically, the rules of the 2017-2018 ViOlympic competition has been adjusted, reducing the number of rounds to reduce the pressure for students. Accordingly, Vietnamese Mathematics are reduced to 13 rounds and the English Mathematics and Physics are reduced to 10 rounds. In the school year 2017-2018, there is also no round of competition at all levels, but only the round of self-training. In particular, the Organizing Committee will hold the National ViOlympic Finale with 60-minute allotted time, consisting of 3 parts including questions in self-study rounds and questions in unlimited areas.
Regarding the structure of awards, the final round of ViOlympic this year will choose 7 first prize, 14 second prize, 21 third prize and 70 consolation prizes with the total prize value of over VND 200 million. However, the units are still able to organize their own competitions and assess their students’ performance by taking the three rounds of competition that are provided with codes, which is closest to the national ViOlympic Finale.
A breakthrough point of Violympic 2017-2018 being the latest advances of technology 4.0 such as Big Data, AI, Deep Learning … will be applied by FPT so that Violympic will become the most powerful learning tool for students at all levels. The technology improvements will make ViOlympic website more user-friendly, easy to use with faster processing speed and enhanced security for accounts.
In the time to come, FPT will complete the Violympic version on phones and other smart electronics; The chatbot – robot application answers frequently asked questions. Organizing Committee will bring in-depth technologies such as virtual reality or real interaction that will contribute to creating a visually active testing model that will bring more modern and interesting information to students. Students will find it easy to search for their rankings and their testing history on the system as well as recover their own account by email or phone number.

The 2017-2018 school year is the 10th year of the ViOlympic Competition. FPT hopes to create a friendly and healthy learning environment for pupils, shortening the distance of the region and at the same time contributing to building knowledge and skills cornerstone for Vietnamese students, getting ready for the 4th Industrial Revolution.
At the ceremony, FPT Chief Executive Officer Bui Quang Ngoc affirmed that FPT is always ready to invest in ViOlympic in terms of technology and content, contributing to the foundation of knowledge and skills for students in Vietnam.
