After successfully testing self-driving cars level 3 at the ECOPARK Hung Yen civilization, ADAS project team is continuing to develop the system of control, monitoring, dispatching and remote car booking application on mobile devices to support travel needs in the 4.0 era.

Towards a comprehensive solution of transporting people and goods for businesses and users in resorts, smart cities, factories and airports, the project team is currently deploying production of remote car booking application on mobile devices.

The application allows users to choose a departure – destination and booking car. In addition, users can also check the vehicle position on the map, estimate the trip time and time the vehicle will move to the pick-up point. This is a great leap forward to help increase the interaction between users with the system.

Ms. Hanh Trang – one of the residents of ECOPARK, who directly used the shuttle service of FPT, said: “This is a great experience because Ecopark is extremely large, having convenient transportation is really very helpful and useful for residents like us”.

In order for the application and autonomous vehicles to operate synchronously, the project team must incorporate many of the most advanced technologies available today such as sensor systems, computational processing systems and execution systems as well like other network connections to control remote operation to the vehicle.

For the sensor system, the project team used Lidar – a device that uses 360-degree scanning light around self-driving cars, operates both day and night and can detect objects as far as 100 meters. From the 3D data of Lidar mounted on the vehicle, the project team used algorithms to build 3D maps with high accuracy. Therefore, the car is capable of positioning itself in the real environment through 3D mapping system. After that, ekip will continue to create a route for the car and identify bus stations.

Besides, the device will be connected to the camera that acts as a human eye and provides the image processing system in the environment. When the car is in operation, the data from the Lidar sensors and the camera is continuously processed by computer so that the car can move itself in the real environment.

By using artificial intelligence to identify objects on the road such as pedestrians, motorcycles, car,… the information provided will help the processing system to make accurate decisions such as avoiding obstacles, stop when having obstacles in the way, stop under traffic signals,…

In addition, the project team applied control algorithms to process and compute images. In addition, the application of internet to monitor and control the remote operation in combination with vehicle components such as brakes, gas, steering wheel,… are also two effective tools for implementation and acceptance executive orders for self-driving cars.

Currently, ADAS projects continue to research, improve and optimize existing modules on the system to process information faster and more accurately. In particular, the collision warning system and the function to avoid obstacles so that the vehicle can move more flexibly are two difficult problems that the whole team is trying to find the decryption key.
