FPT Software had recently held an event called “Intrapreneurs – Start-up inside FPT Software” in order to motivate research and development of innovative technological solutions and products. For each successful commercialization of solution/product, the team project will earn 10-20% sales revenue.
The event welcomed the company’s senior managers, staff with start-up projects in FPT Software, as well as 300 active individuals in the Vietnamese tech field.
Regarding Intrapreneurs, Mr. Tran Dang Hoa, CEO of FPT Software had shared: “A start-up idea will quickly fail without necessary resources like money, technology, human resources… In fact, there are thousands of ideas, yet only some survive until successful development. If you start-up inside a business, then you are not alone, but rather you are developing your idea based on the market demands and the company’s resources and base values. Large firms in the world all have funds to develop such internal projects.”
He also said: “FPT Software guaranteed to help ideas go from 0 to 1, from 1 to 10, and from 10 to 100. Using the company’s strengths on technology, human resources, customers, and worldwide experience, we will invest and turn your idea into a product, create a market for testing it, and connect it to experts and customers. Should we see potential, then we shall commit to spread your idea worldwide with continual funds and protection of your rights and ownership.”
FPT Software is currently deploying policies that motivate the research and development of innovative technological solutions and products. For each successful commercialization of solution/product, the team project will earn 10-20% sales revenue, depending on FPT’s level of funding.
At the event, FPT Software also share some information regarding the 14 “Intrapreneur” currently in development at the firm, including Codelearn, akaDev, akaDoc, akaTrans, akaBot, MyFSoft, Utop, TranData,…
Among those, UTOP had received 3 million USD in its Series A, and currently expects a further 15 million USD in later series. akaBot – the automation platform for business procedures had recently sold its first franchise contract of 6.5 million USD in 5 years, with its development team receiving 1.2 million USD in royalties.
“Should you offer a worthy idea, we will always receive, nurture, provide orientation and invest”, Mr. Hoa affirmed.
Mr. Cao Van Viet, Head of Codelearn project – an online learning platform for everyone, shared about his start-up journey: “I have quitted my job twice to start-up without any success. My third try was in 2018, and I was planning on quitting to focus on Codelearn, before my boss said to submit in a project proposal, and the company may invest in it. And that was how Codelearn was born in FPT Software.”
After a year of launching, Codelearn has now become a platform where people can teach themselves to code, with over 30,000 members and 120 collaborators in Vietnam and Japan. The project consists of 12 courses, 1,000 exercises, and had successful organized two big competitions of “Codewar 2019” (with over 3,000 participants) and “Tech Arena” at FPT Techday 2019 (with 500 participants).
FPT Software’s CFO, Mr. Nguyen Khai Hoan – one who wholly support the internal start-up trend in FPT Software, had also shared his personal “Intrapreneurs” experience. With the idea to help FPT develop its community and set up a clear connection of information between the company and individuals, thus know their strengths, weaknesses, and orientations, he had developed akaTOUCH – a human resource management and development platform.
The event will also be an opportunities for young people and the tech community to discuss the development of AI and Blockchain – technologies that are receiving attention these days, as well as the developing start-ups inside FPT Software, especially those build on the basis of AI and Blockchain.
